Me and My Photography History
I am 22 and currently a senior at the University of Iowa studying International Studies and Art, minoring in English. I took two film photography classes in High School and absolutely loved them. I spent all of my spare time in the dark room during school and borrowing the school's camera outside of class. I stopped taking pictures for a couple of years because I didn't have access to the equipment, but during my Freshman year in college, my parents bought me a digital camera for a birthday and Christmas present. I slowly started taking pictures again during my spare time this and my extreme love for photography came bursting out full force again and knew I needed to follow my passion. I've taken two photography classes at Iowa and am learning all the time. I just got back from studying abroad in Christchurch, New Zealand. Studying abroad was the by far the best decision I have ever made. I am back at the University of Iowa and finishing up my last semester in college. I am currently taking a photojournalism class and am very interested in exploring that side of photography.
This SpringI am taking 17 semester hours and working in the digital photography lab.

The name: The Essential Flow
I came up with the name The Essential Flow one night as I was laying down to go to sleep. That seems to be the time when I am finally quiet and still enough for inspiration to seep in whether I want to listen to it or not. To me The Essential Flow means slowing down and taking the time to look at the world...the beauty of the land, the plants and the people. Our world is such an incredible place and I love exploring it.
